All Hindu people visit their Mother Temple or Main Pura – the Balinese word for temple – at least once a year. The Pura Besakih is Bali’s most important, largest and holiest temple. Each family has its own “family temple”. When Balinese people move due to marriage or work, their way back to the family temple can get rather far and cumbersome.
Your are only allowed to enter a temple wearing a so called Sarong – some kind of cloth which covers your entire legs no matter if you have long or short trousers underneath. we do have some Sarongs ready at the villas for your excursions – just do not forget to pack them before you head to one of the many well worth seeing temples.
